When Swiss doll maker Sasha Morgenthaler designed the Sasha dolls during World War II, her work with Jewish orphans who had fled Germany inspired her to sculpt the universal child. Sasha dolls, named after their creator are meant to represent children of all nationalities. The first molded dolls did not appear until the early 1940s and were created by the artist’s hands alone. It wasn't until 1963 that the dolls went into mass production. Production of the Sasha dolls ceased in 1986.
The three dolls below were produced in the early to mid-1980s. The dolls are all original but are missing their wrist tags. Dolls from the collection of V. Donally.
