MADAME ALEXANDER DOLLS

Madame Alexander - Perhaps one of the most recognizable names in doll collecting. The Madame Alexander Doll Company has been producing dolls cherished by children since 1923 when the company was first formed by Madame Beatrice Alexander and her husband Phillip Behrman.  Trendsetters in the world of dolls, Madame Alexander began producing quality composition dolls in the 1930's.  Quickly adapting to the changing times, they began the producing of hard plastic dolls in 1948.

Madame Alexander was awarded the Fashion Academy Gold Medal for four (4) years in a row in 1951, 1952, 1953, and 1954 for fashions that were designed for her dolls.  No wonder the dolls she produced in the 1950s are some of the most sought after dolls by collectors around the world.

CISSY

This lovely 1950s brunette Cissy is 18" tall and wearing a handmade or "mommy made" dress.  Her hair is still in the original set and her face paint is still beautiful after all these years.  From the collection of D. Donally.

1950s BINNIE WALKER

Below is a nice example of the Binnie Walker doll.  This doll is 18" tall and all original wearing a tagged Binnie Walker dress.  From the collection of V. Donally.

LISSETTE

This is a nice example of a 12" Lissette doll.  The doll is unmarked as is common with many of the Lissette dolls by Madame Alexander.  Her hair appears to be in the original set, however, I do not know if her outfit is original as it is untagged, but fits the her perfectly.  From the collection of V. Donally.

MADAME ALEXANDER WENDY - VINTAGE

VINTAGE BO PEEP.  This little cutie is only 8" tall but she is all original even with her chenille staff.  From the collection of V. Donally.
Dolly - from the Miniature Showcase Collection (about 1988).   Dolly is an all plastic strung doll.  She is dressed in her original outfit which is tagged "Dolly" By MADAME ALEXANDER/MADE IS U.S.A.  From the collection of D. Donally.

CLASSIC STORY BOOK COLLECTION

Classic Storybook Collection - The various dolls in this collection enjoyed a production run of almost 20 years from 1968 to 1985.  The dolls shown below are all likely from the early 1980s.  They all have a harder plastic body with a vinyl head, sleep eyes and rooted hair.  Their costumes are original and complete.  Dolls from the collection of D. Donally.
